A new anime channel Anime Times launched on 20 August 2021. Kodansha, Shueisha, and Shogakukan’s topical works and nostalgic masterpiece animations are all gathered here!
What is Anime Times?
Anime Times is a new anime channel offering an officially licensed anime streaming service within Amazon Japan’s Prime Video. The Anime Times Company consisting of 14 companies, including Japan’s giant anime content holders, launched the channel.
At the time of the launch, Anime Times started releasing a wide range of anime titles in various categories. For example, it includes the monstrous hits from Kodansha, Shueisha, Shogakukan, and their nostalgic masterpieces. Amazon Japan’s Prime members will be able to enjoy approximately 500 titles and 7,000 episodes at the start of the channel for 437 yen/month (tax included).

Furthermore, Anime Times just released its Promo Video recently. In the video, Hiroshi Kamiya, one of the most popular and talented voice actors in the world, appears as the main narrator. He presents a series of essential concepts of the service, such as “courage, love, youth, gag, supernatural power, and, bond” that remind us of the genres and messages of the works.
Also, famous anime characters from 33 popular titles, including those played by Hiroshi Kamiya. Levi (The Movie: Attack of the Titans: Season 1 Part 2 – Wings of Freedom), Yato (Noragami), and Penguin (Shirokuma Cafe) appear one after another, raising expectations for the new “Anime Times” PR video.
This new service offers a wide range of content that only the Anime Times Company – a collection of content holders – can provide. The lineup includes a large number of works that tug at the heartstrings of anime fans. The channel will keep expanding its contents one after another. Also, there are plans to produce and distribute original anime works.
