A special Slam Dunk Scholarship to support Basketball!

Slam Dunk was one of the first sports anime that we ever watched in India. We Indians fell inevitably in love with the series when it aired on Animax India for the first time. The series oozes energy to the point where you will want to binge-watch the whole anime with no breaks. While we are waiting for their to-be-released movie, the author released more details of the Slam Dunk Scholarship program.

The creator of this classic basketball series, Takehiko Inoue, agrees that it is due to this anime and manga that he could reach the hearts of passionate fans. Thus to give back to the sports of Basketball, he planned the Scholarship.
His aim is to support young athletes who have the will and ability to continue competing in the United States with the aim of becoming a university or professional, but who cannot fulfill their dreams for financial or other reasons.
The scholarship is funded by a portion of the royalties on “SLAM DUNK” and contributions from IT Planning Co., Ltd., and Shueisha Co., Ltd.

For those of you who do not know about Slam Dunk, it is a sports manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. It follows the story of a basketball team from Shōhoku High School in Japan. It ran in  Weekly Shōnen Jump by Shueisha between October 1990 to June 1996.
