Kentaro Miura sensei, a manga artist known for his works such as “BERSERK,” has been passed away due to acute aortic dissection on 6th May. He was fifty-four years old.
Miura sensei made his debut in 1985 with “Again…,” which appeared in the Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha). In 1988, he published a manga completed in one chapter “BERSERK” in the monthly ComiComi (Hakusensha), which was serialized in 1989. The work is still being serialized in “Young Animal” (Hakusensha,) and has been published in 40 volumes.
In 2002, BERSERK won the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award for Excellence in manga. It has been made into anime for TV and movies. Moreover, the first large-scale exhibition is scheduled to be held in September this year.
The series has sold over 50 million copies in paper and digital editions. It has been translated and published in 15 countries and regions, including the United States and France.

In addition, “Duranki” was started in “Young Animal Zero” (Hakusensha) in 2007.
