My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising anime movie has finally released in the Indian theatres this Friday (12 March 2021). The movie has been released by PVR Cinemas and tickets are available for purchase on BookMyShow.
This movie followed up on the release of the previous movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes under the franchise. The previous movie is still airing in the PVR theatres alongside the newly released movie.
About My Hero Academia Anime movie franchise
My Hero Academia franchise is based on a manga series created by Kōhei Horikoshi. There are two movies in this franchise, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes and My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising.
The first movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes focuses on the relationship between All Might and Deku. The events of the first movie take place between the Final Exams and the Forest Training Camp arcs. This movie was released in PVR India in February 2021 and is still running in selected theatres.
While the second movie My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising released in PVR this weekend. This movie highlights Izuku and his arch-rival, Bakugou. It focuses on All Might and Deku, who accepts an invitation to visit I Island where they battle against a villain who takes the island hostage.
A third movie is already in the works and will release in Japan this year.

As with the first movie, mangaka Kōhei Horikoshi supervised the making of the film. He also created the original character designs for the movie. The movie was directed by Kenji Nagasaki and animated at studio Bones. The film was based on a script written by Yōsuke Kuroda. Yoshihiko Umakoshi worked on the character designs for the film, and Yuki Hayashi composed the music. The film was distributed in Japan by Toho. The theme song of the movie, “Higher Ground” is performed by the Japanese rock band sumika.
As per Forbes, ‘My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising’, had one of the best anime showcases ever in the U.S. and even surpassed popular anime movies like Spirited Away, Your Name, and Ponyo. It has grossed over $15.1 million in Japan, as well as $13.5 million in the United States and Canada, for a total of $28.7 million worldwide (Source)
