Nintendo has announced to open a new gallery, tentatively named “Nintendo Gallery.” It will showcase the many products Nintendo has launched over its history. The brand will use the land of its Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant in Kyoto for the project.

Story behind the announcement

How could Nintendo share its product development history and philosophy with the public? That was a huge question for them for a long time. Therefore, Nintendo has been discussing the possibility of building a gallery.

In conclusion, the brand decided to renovate the Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant to accommodate the gallery. And they will redevelop a new plant near the Ogura Station area.

About Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant

Nintendo built the Nintendo Uji Ogura Plant in 1969, known as the “Uji Plant.” The facility’s name changed to “Uji Ogura Plant” in 1988, after the construction, extension, and renovation of the current Uji Plant.

The Uji Ogura Plant has been used to manufacture both playing cards and Hanafuda cards. It also operated as a customer service center for product repairs. The Discussion of usage of the Uji Ogura Plant began after these functions shifted to the current Uji Plant in November 2016.

About the Nintendo Gallery

The facility will be a place where people can see the brand’s historical products. Also, lots of exciting experiences are available. Nintendo expects to open it within the 2023 Fiscal Year, which ends in March 2024.
